Sludge belt filter press
overview
Sludge belt filter press (also known as belt sludge dewatering machine) is mainly used for dewatering residual sludge or mixed sludge from sewage biochemical and physicochemical treatment, reducing its volume for further landfill, incineration and other treatments. It can be applied to solid-liquid separation in various industries such as water supply and drainage, papermaking, casting, leather, textile, chemical, food, etc.
Working principle
The belt filter press is divided into three steps for filtration and dehydration functions:
1. Gravity dehydration zone
The sludge from the wastewater treatment plant is pumped into the sludge mixing tank and mixed with a high molecular weight flocculant, causing the small suspended particles in the sludge to form larger latex like particles through the bridging effect of the high molecular weight flocculant. Then, they overflow from the upper end of the mixing tank into the subsequent pressing and dewatering operation by gravity flow.
2. Pressure dehydration zone
After the sludge enters the pressure dewatering zone from the gravity dewatering zone, the upper and lower filter cloths gradually squeeze the sludge for dewatering.
3. Pressurized dehydration zone
The sludge moves into the pressurized dewatering zone with the filter cloth, and is arranged between six vertical rollers in a configuration where the roller diameter gradually decreases and the pressure gradually increases. With the shear force generated by the change of the upper and lower positions of the filter cloth between different rollers on the sludge, the capillary tubes in the sludge are combined with water pressure to produce a drier sludge cake.
